There's not much one can say about the legendary manager Casey Stengel, who learned his trade under managers Wilbert Robinson and John McGraw, two of the greatest ever.  Stengel came into his own as manager of the Yankees in 1949, winning the World Series in five consecutive seasons, the only time that has happened in baseball history.  Ultimately Stengel won seven titles and ten pennants with the Yankees before he was let go at the end of the 1960 season.  Stengel, of course, became the manager of the hapless expansion New York Mets, where he remained through 1965.  One of the great managers - and one of the great characters - the game has ever seen, Stengel applied a lovely signature to this 1940 Play Ball card, a NM-MT 8 signature on an EX 5 card.  The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
