Tough example of the only pose issued of Philadelphia Athletics manager Bill Sharsig.  Sharsig was at the helm of the team for parts of five seasons between 1886 and 1891, during which time SABR reports he was known for bringing in amateur players to round out his teams for a game or two.  As a result, there are a number of players who suited up for the Athletics during Sharsig's tenure who were only identified a century later by SABR researchers.  The card has been graded POOR by SGC due to overall wear as well as two pinholes.  Light pencil writing can be seen on the reverse, beneath the soiling.  Still, despite the wear, the image contrast is strong, the phot picturing Sharsig in street clothes and bowler hat.
