Exceptional complete basic set of the first series of Three Stooges trading cards, one of the most popular and widely-collected of all nonsports sets.  This compete set features 96 colorized stills from the Three Stooges' comedy shorts, which were beginning to find new popularity as television became widely accepted in American homes.  Their popularity has never waned, as the films and shorts still appear on television today, their slapstick humor finding new audiences with each generation.

While Three Stooges complete sets appear frequently at auction, complete, graded sets are far less common.  In this case, the set is a higher-grade set, its 6.219 grade point average good enough to rank #45 on the PSA Set Registry.  What's more, each of the cards are of the tougher and more condition-sensitive Gray Back variety.  While the PSA Registry for the issue's basic set has well over 100 current collections registered, the Gray Back variety has just eight, with this set strong enough to attain a rank of #2.  Beyond the technical grade of the cards, however, they all appear quite sharp, with exceptional eye appeal.  Even the cards with the lowest numerical grades appear high-grade, with minor surface wrinkling or chipping reducing the technical grade.
