If you weren’t able to get to the Baseball Hall of Fame in the mid-1960s, a New York company – aptly named “Sports Hall of Fame, Inc.” – figured out a way to bring the Hall to you. In fact, the Sports Hall of Fame Busts still have a following amongst baseball memorabilia collectors. Offered here is a collection of 10 Sports Hall of Fame busts that were created in 1963. The sculptured statuettes showcase eight legendary HOF members (Ty Cobb and Christy Mathewson appear twice) now residing in Cooperstown. Standing six inches high, each one includes a white bust of the player atop a wood-like pedestal with a plaque in front that reflects the featured player’s career stats. In fact, each plaque mirrors the exact wording found on each player's respective plaque that's on display in Cooperstown. The lineup truly is a Who’s Who? of Major League Baseball and also includes Honus Wagner, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Cochrane and Bill Dickey. Ten busts total.
