J.E. Dunn was a man in the right place at the right time, namely photo day for the 1888 Chicago Maroons of the old Western league. He's got five poses in the N172 set but is so obscure Baseball Reference doesn't even have a full bead on him, although it's known his first name was John. He appears to have run into some bad luck on the mound and was apparently released in June, then sinking to the lowly Pennsylvania State League some time thereafter. His 193-1 batting pose is a a thing of beauty, where the mustachioed pitcher is shown wielding a two-tone bat and proudly wearing the team's uniform. The grade is PSA 3 and it seems fair as the border has taken some abuse and is missing a small bit of paper at the top, with rounded corners showing. The back has some dots of foxing here and there.
