Collector-grade 1953 Topps partial set. Collection grades 8% VG/EX, 29% VG, 38% GOOD, 16% FAIR, and 9% POOR. Many collectors consider the 1953 issue to be Topps' true artistic triumph, the oversized cards featuring hand-painted portraits of each player, each card including a team logo with an inset border of red or black. This particular group comes from the collection of its original owner, who collected throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Unfortunately he was just a young boy in 1953, and thus handled the cards significantly, writing on a few, and creasing up more than his share. The collection includes the following, with grades for the keys: 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27 Campanella (G), 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37 Matthews (PF), 38, 39, 40, 41 Slaughter (P), 42, 43, 44, 46, 47, 49, 50, 52, 53, 54 Feller (G), 55, 57, 58, 59, 61 Wynn (G), 62 Irvin (F), 63, 67, 69, 72, 73, 76 Reese (G), 80, 81, 83, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 101, 102, 103, 104 Berra (P), 105, 106, 108, 109, 110, 111, 113, 114 Rizzuto (P), 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, 122, 123, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138 Kell (G), 139, 140, 414, 142, 144, 146, 147 Spahn (G), 148, 149, 150, 151 Wilhelm (F), 152, 153, 154, 155, 157, 158, 159, 160, 161, 162, 163, 164, 165, 167, 170, 175, 183, 190, 193, 197, 210, 213, 214, 218.
