Roberto Clemente remains near the very apex of postwar ballplayers in the collective minds of baseball enthusiasts and collectors. His 1955 Topps rookie remains an object of desire in the hobby and this example offers a well-preserved image of the rifle-armed Pirates outfielder. This example has been graded VG/EX+ 4.5 by SGC, centered off to the bottom right as oriented, with light corner wear consistent with the grade. The color, especially the dark-to-light fade of green and the deep black, early Pirates batting helmet, is extremely rich and nicely contrasted. Very minor wear in one or two spots, dots really, can be seen. The reverse, well-centered and clean, looks fantastic, with well-rendered greens and reds.
