Presented in an SGC EX 5 holder, this second year Jackie Robinson card hails from the first of three consecutive sets featuring the bevy of well-executed illustrations provided to Bowman by the staff of the George Moll Advertising Agency, under the astute artistic direction of Charles Steinbacher. Based upon a well-known photograph of Robinson, the level of detail on this card is exceptional, with Ebbets Field's details prominent in the background.
This well-centered example has some light corner wear evident, mostly visible at the upper right. The surface remains smooth, with no signs of wear and the color contrast is off the charts. The image is bright, as are the borders, which remain white. Flipping the card over, some foxing along the edges, which this issue is subject to, can be seen and there is no sign of the "wax line" Bowman's are also known for. The text is nice and legible, with the red highlights retaining good color and the famous Five Star logo looking sharp. A great looking card for the grade, offering a worthy canvas indeed for the Hall of Fame infielder.
