The Chicago Stars Ladies Base Ball Club was not fully feminine in makeup (as was the case with many female barnstorming teams) but were certainly one of the more well-known bloomer girl teams of their day. The photo includes many female stars of the era, including the famous pitcher Maud Nelson (front row, center), outfielder Julie St. Clair (middle row, right), left fielder Maggie Burke (middle row, left) and team manager J.R. Olson, Jr. The image is a dark one, with scuffing noticeable, especially on the right side. A lot of "grit" can be seen in the photo as well. The mount has some foxing but has survived nicely. A little dirt is seen in a patch near one of the corners on the reverse.
