A debacle of a football game that was the last regular season college game for John Elway with the Stanford Cardinals, the event memorialized here is in the truth-is-stranger-than-fiction camp. With the Cardinals ahead by a point with mere seconds left to play, a mismanaged timeout call and subsequent penalty gave the California Golden Bears life. After it looked like the return man had been tackled, which would have ended the game with the Cardinals still on top, the entire Stanford marching band, several cheerleaders and assorted players and sideline personnel spilled out onto the field only to watch Cal execute a series of laterals that led to a winning touchdown. This return is now known as "The Play" and the game has gone down as one of the most infamous in college gridiron history. PSA has only encapsulated twenty-four stubs from the game, and this VG 3 is one of them. Featuring bold blue and yellow graphics, this keepsake would make a great addition to an existing football ticket collection
