The 1938 Yankees posted a regular season mark of 99-53-5, which placed them first in the American League. They went on to defeat the Chicago Cubs in four straight games to win the franchise's seventh World Series. The Bronx Bombers were led offensively by the likes of 23-year-old Joe DiMaggio (32 HR, 140 TBI), Lou Gehrig (29 HR, 114 RBI) and Bill Dickey (27 HR, 115 RBI). On the bump, Red Ruffing (21 wins, 127 K’s) and Lefty Gomez (18 wins, 129 K’s) paced the team defensively. Presented is a team-signed official American League William Harridge baseball featuring this stellar lineup. A total of 28 signatures are found, led by the legendary Gehrig on the sweet spot.  Two other Hall of Famers are also present: second baseman Joe Gordon and Ruffing. Other notables include Red Rolfe, Jake Powell, George Selkirk, Steve Sundra and Bump Hadley. A total of five “clubhouse” signatures from the era have been identified: Gomez, DiMaggio, Dickey, Myril Hoag and Johnny Schulte.
