The 1955 baseball season is one of the most memorable in the history of the sport, with its memorabilia among the most widely-collected of every postwar season.  A monster 51 home run, 127 RBI season from Willie Mays, 20-win seasons from both Don Newcombe and Robin Roberts, and a tight American League race between the Yankees and Indians that went right down to the wire were all overshadowed by one of the most dramatic World Series in history.  The 1955 World Series, sealed by Sandy Amoros' game-saving catch in Game 7, remains legendary among New Yorkers and vintage collectors.  The 1955 Topps baseball set is among the most desirable and valuable of all the Topps issues, widely sought-after in any condition.

Presented here is an attractive, collector-grade set, largely clean and presentable with strong eye appeal.  A complete condition breakdown is 2% VG/EX, 16% VG, 47% GOOD, 33% F/P, and a few AUTHENTIC due to various alterations, including several of the issue's key cards.  We selected six cards to submit to SGC for grading: #47 Aaron (SGC AUTHENTIC, with an erased stain), #50 Robinson (SGC FR 1.5), #125 Koufax (SGC AUTHENTIC w/evidence of trimming at the right edge), #164 Clemente (SGC AUTHENTIC, with light color added to fill in some creasing), #187 Hodges (SGC VG/EX+ 4.5), and #194 Mays (SGC VG/EX 4).  The remaining keys grade as follows: #2 Williams (F), #4 Kaline (P), #28 Banks (F), #31 Spahn (G), #100 Irvin (F), #124 Killebrew (P - Pinhole), #155 Mathews (G), #189 Rizzuto (G), #198 Berra (P).  A strong set despite the technical grade, one of the most important of all postwar baseball sets.  206 cards total.
