A classic wide-angle pose of "Big Six" Christy Mathewson adorns this E92 Dockman from 1909.  The golden sunset, light blue clouds and green, green grass set the scene, which features the Giants ace playing catch as he warms up before a game. Some dirt rolls across the top horizontal border, with a little bit less at the bottom, with varying degrees of corner tipping and rounding seen.  A spot of product residue is also present. The reverse is black, bold and beautiful-just some light smudging can be seen.  The subject matter, composition and orientation have always made this a desirable target for Hall-of-Fame and candy card collectors.  It's easy to see why, with this stunning example, a textbook "buy the card, not the holder" candidate if ever there was one.
