Fabulous original news service photograph featuring Comiskey Park rooters and two Chicago White Sox mascots during the 1917 World Series. On the left in uniform is Clarence Rowland, son of White Sox manager Pants Rowland, while on the right (also in uniform) is young John McCuddy. Presumably the junior McCuddy's father, a John McCuddy was close friends with Charles Comiskey and owned McCuddy's Tavern which remained directly across the street from Comiskey Park from 1910-88. Central image of photo remains exceptional with light chipping and creasing evident to the extreme corners. Verso of photo includes a lengthy inscription identifying both boys and two NEA credit stampings appear towards the lower-right corner. An important date stamp of October 12, 1917 is present towards the right edge. This stamp along with details provided but the inscription indicate the image must have been captured subsequent to either Game 1 or 2, both of which were Sox victories at Comiskey. Measures 8" x 10" and guaranteed Type 1.
