Big Ed Delahanty, one of the preeminent power hitters of the 19th Century, is pictured on one of his five N172 Old Judge cards. He earned his way into Cooperstown with his bat but infamy dogged him as he died a strange death at Niagara Falls after falling off a bridge. The pose on this SGC 1 graded card is identified as #123-1, his "Bat at Ready" pose. This is a well developed example, with a small spot or two of residue seen at upper left. The corners have rounding and some creasing but the overall look is there and then some. Two different back stamps are present, perhaps detailing an old transaction in the early days of the hobby. One of the most desirable of all the players in the Old Judge issue, and one of the most important players of his era.
