Compelling 4" x 5" photograph depicting members of the Boston Red Sox at Squam Lake during a visit to Plymouth, NH. Babe Ruth and teammates had been invited to Draper & Maynard Co.'s factory in the White Mountains following their 1916 World Series championship and were presented with a key to the city upon arrival. During their stay the team enjoyed several activities in and around Plymouth while touring the factory itself that produced equipment endorsed by the Red Sox from 1915-1920. The team's visit was documented in a series of photographs later presented to individual players in the form of albums, several of which have found their way into the hobby in recent years. This photograph and five others offered within this auction, many including a youthful Babe Ruth, originate from those very albums. Bold photograph remains free of obtrusive blemishes aside from a vertical pencil mark above Ruth's head. Red Sox first baseman, Dick Hoblitzell stands at center and the unidentified individual on far left is sporting the iconic heavy sweater once worn by Red Sox teams of the Deadball Era. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
