Highly desirable ticket stub from the "Lou Gehrig Memorial" day scheduled to be held at Yankee Stadium on July 4th, 1941. Intended to honor Gehrig on the two year anniversary of his "Luckiest Man" speech, a ceremony was to be held between games of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Athletics but inclement weather pushed the event back to Sunday, July 6. Tragically, "The Iron Horse" passed away on June 2, 1941, almost exactly one month prior to placement of the monument dedicated to him at Yankee Stadium that afternoon. Gehrig's monument reads: "A man, a gentleman, and a great ball player whose amazing record of 2130 consecutive games should stand for all time. This memorial is a tribute from the Yankees players to their beloved captain and team mate - July the fourth 1941." Tremendous, historically significant stub presents beautifully with a touch of discoloration in the lower-right corner and clean reverse.
