Original 7" x 9" news service photograph showing Babe Ruth signing copies of his book "How to Play Baseball" for infirmed boys. Ruth's visit occurred on June 18, 1931 at the Hospital for Joint Disease in New York City to help raise spirits of the ailing youngsters. Wonderful, clear photo exhibits moderate wear to the corners and verso has been effectively completely covered over with heavy brown tape, providing additional support to the 90-year-old photograph. A pencil notation appears on verso that reads "Photo From TCMA," indicating this example had once belonged to hobby pioneer Mike Aronstein who often lent out photos for use in publications during the 1980's. This photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the files of Photo File, Inc. where it has remained for many decades until the time of this sale. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
