Fascinating stub from June 27, 1960 granting access to Yankee Stadium for a contest between the hometown Yankees and the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers. It was the Dodgers first visit to the New York area subsequent to their move west at conclusion of the 1957 season. A reported 53,492 fans packed into Yankee Stadium with half the proceeds going to benefit New York's sandlot baseball fund. Before the game a home run hitting contest was held and Mickey Mantle wowed the crowd with multiple long balls to the opposite field from both sides of the plate. Sandy Koufax pitched a single inning and earned the victory with the final scare Dodgers 4, Yankees 3. Uncommon ticket is well worn with creasing throughout and a spot of paper loss on reverse at bottom edge. Bright red Yankees logo presents wonderfully against the cream colored paper set off by bold "Sandlot Benefit" lettering at bottom. A wonderful artifact illustrating just how much the landscape of baseball in New York City had changed in a few short years following the Golden Age of 1947-57.
