Fleer continued their All Time Greats theme in 1961 when they issued the first half of a two-year series. Adding some basic design elements, 88 cards were included in 1961, including this one of Hall-of-Fame catcher Gabby Hartnett, a man given the prosaic nickname of Old Tomato Face (ouch). Twenty years retired at this point, this image seems taken from the three years he was player-manager for the Cubs.
Hartnett's first name was Charles but he's used his middle name of Leo here and added quotes around his nickname on a card that's still in nice shape, with just some corner touches worth mentioning. Signed in blue ballpoint, PSA/DNA AUTHENTIC.
