Yankees third baseman and future Hall of Famer, Frank "Home Run" Baker relaxes at his home prior to the 1921 season in this 7" x 9" news service photo from Underwood. Baker is pictured with his daughter, Janice shortly before leaving for training camp with the Yankees. As mentioned by paper caption on verso, Baker "declared that he expected to return to baseball this season," which was noteworthy considering the slugger missed the entirety of the 1920 campaign following his wife's death that February. Photo exhibits moderate creasing around the borders, paper residue affixed along the bottom edge, and pinholes in the corners but the central image remains largely unimpacted. Moderate soiling is present around outer edges of verso with large paper caption attached over blue Underwood stamping. This example is fresh to the hobby, originating from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until this offering. Authenticated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
