A catcher who played 91 games in 8 seasons with the Yankees (not a typo), Ralph Houk garnered four World Series rings in those years, then added two more as a manager when he took over for Casey Stengel in 1961. He managed for twenty years, all in the bigs, and won over 1600 games. It a remains mystery why he is not in the Hall of Fame as a manager. His 1952 Topps card as seen here, with some corner softness and a light crease, is still a study in the odd background colors chosen by Topps for some subjects in the set. His autograph is in blue pen and Houk has also inscribed "Best Wishes" to a lucky recipient.
