A tall, hard throwing lefty, Bill Kennedy had a pretty uneventful start to his career, debuting in 1940 with Ashland in the Class D Mountain States League. After three years in the Army Air Force, he came back to pitch in 1946 seemingly nourished by jet fuel, striking out a whopping 456 batters across 280 innings, still in Class D ball. He progressed to the majors in 1948, his energy seemingly sapped, ultimately putting together this bast season in 1952, where he led the AL in with 47 appearances as a swingman for the White Sox, who purchased his contract from the Browns during Spring Training that year.

The 1952 Topps specimen encased here is well off center, with good color.  The black ink signature is really nice, PSA/DNA AUTHENTIC. PSA has authenticated just 11 signed 1952 Topps Kennedy cards; he passed away in 1983 at just 62 years of age.
