A dependable 28 year old rookie starter for the World Series Champion Cardinals in 1944, reeling off 11 straight wins during one stretch, Ted Wilks transitioned to the bullpen after the war and was equally effective during the 1946 campaign that saw him win a second ring with the Redbirds and was also the start of a two year span where he didn't lose a game across almost 150 innings. Injuries soon took their toll though, and he would be out of the big leagues after a brief 1953 campaign. Some stray markings can be seen on this 1952 Topps card, which has some creasing evident. A nice, tight signature in blue has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, who have authenticated just 10 other signed examples of his '52 Topps card.
