The multi-talented Dick Groat was a vital presence on two World Series winning teams nad snagged a slot in the 1952 Topps High Numbers with his rookie card. Debuting in mid-June, he played out the season in fine fashion and then went back to school at Duke to finish his degree. He played for the Blue Devils basketball team sand was the third overall pick in the 1953 NBA draft, where he was selected by the Pistons. He got about halfway through the NBA season when he was drafted again, this time by Uncle Sam. His autograph here, in Blue Sharpie, is graded GEM MINT 10 by PSA/DNA and the card is a very attractive VG-EX 4.
