Affectionately known as "The Yiddish Curver" for both the number-one pitch in his arsenal and his Jewish ancestry, a young Barney Pelty poses in this incredible oversize photograph. Situated on the sidelines, Pelty appears to be sporting a uniform style worn by the St. Louis Browns during home contests in 1905. Measuring approximately 9" x 13", a sizable portion of the lower-right corner is missing and some light chipping is present around the edges, otherwise photo remains a fabulous large-format representation of this Deadeball Era personality and a T206er to boot. Verso displays black paper remnants and evidence of dried adhesive, both indications the photo was removed from a mount at some stage of it's life. One of several pieces we have offered over the past several auctions emanating directly from the estate of Barney Pelty himself where they have been preserved for over ten decades. Authenticated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
