More commonly known as "Rebel",  Earnest Oakes hailed From Arizona, Louisiana (a real place) and had a fairly short career at a time when a ton of card sets were produced. As a result he's in well over a dozen classic sets, last appearing in the 1915 Cracker Jack issue. The "CJ look" is seen here on an SGC 1.5, with a bit of a tilt as well, offset by a truly wonderful image of Oakes choking up on the ol 'Hickory, with deep red color prevalent.
