The 200 black-and-white images appearing in the H801-8 set are also found in three other sets from 1917, each with bespoke advertising. The cards were intended for this purpose and printed "on spec", with the Boston Store, a prominent Chicago concern, availed themselves accordingly.
The nine cards seen here, to a man from the New York Giants, are all trimmed and cut down, yet the cards are quite scarce. These are the skinny nine: Pol Perrett, George Burns, Buck Herzog, Art Fletcher, Hans Lobert, Walter Holke, Lew McCarty, Fred Schupp and Bill Hariden. A couple have creases and foxing and overall the images are fairly strong in this interesting grouping. Nine cards total.
