All-time-great, Lou Gehrig takes a cut in this early 1930's horizontal news service photo by International. While we have seen a tightly cropped version of this image, featuring Gehrig alone, this example provides a much wider crop complete with catcher and backstop. A small spot of paper loss is present next to Gehrig's bat and light wear to the corners is present. Verso exhibits just a hint of toning with paper remnants adhered to the corners where the photo had been affixed in a paper album. Large International News stamping appears in black. This image served as the source material for Gehrig's 1948 Topps Magic Photos #14k card, which is not included but we have chosen to show for reference. Photo measures approx. 6.5" x 8.5" and has been authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
