The R423 issue was a set of small (5/8" x 7/8") cards issued in 13-card strips for use in a baseball game. Numbering 120 cards total, the cards are most often found in low grade, despite the fact that they were perforated for easy separation. Game play resulted in the cards being extensively handled, resulting in the lower grades.
Presented here is a framed 13-card strip, including Hall of Famers Ted Williams, Herb Pennock, Joe Gordon, Stan Musial, Rogers Hornsby, Lefty Grove and Hal Newhouser - quite a lot of star power in a tiny strip, measuring just 8" x 7/8". The strip has been professionally matted and framed to a finished size of 16" x 8" in a handsome wood frame. Unfortunately, the frame and matting makes it impossible for us to determine the color of the back of the strip. An unusual, less-frequently seen strip from an obscure issue, packed with Hall of Famers.
