The 1954 Wilson Franks issue remains a well-made, well-collected and well-remembered regional set, featuring a mix of superstars and journeyman players of the day. Notoriously hard to find in top condition due to the cards having direct contact with the product, for the entire 20 card set zero 10's and nine straight 9's show in the PSA pop report and other than a single 9, nothing exceeding 8.5 via SGC's records. Even tougher are the white bordered cards, a small subset that includes Ted Williams and which give the illusion of having full bleed borders as a result. And the result is stunning, with Williams in a classic shot, the color popping against the field of white and offering tremendous eye appeal. This SGC 4.5 is a nice one and presents strongly for the grade. The corners show matched and fairly minimal wear, with some very minor chipping on the right border, while the reverse is clean on this lightly handled card. The key to the set, this is a card any collector would be proud to own and display.
