Outstanding 1929 postcard distributed with the August, 1929 issue of Shonen Club magazine, part of a 40 card set which included a variety of different images, this being the only one related to baseball.  As is the case with many hobbyists, we have in the past erroneously called this issue "Shonen Kulubu," but the correct word is "Club."  Some time ago, Robert Klevens of Prestige Collectibles, the leading seller of Japanese baseball cards in the hobby, correctly dated the card in an article for Old Cardboard, in which he also translated the text on the front, which reads:

This is the moment Babe Ruth, known throughout the world as the Homerun King, swings with all his might and hits the ball.  The ball flew far past the outfield and it appears to be a homer.  The catcher and umpire freeze in awe as they watch and as Babe looks pleased.  The spectators in the stands are also breathless as they watch.

The reverse of this card is printed in Japanese and French.  The condition is excellent, as verified by SGC with their EX assessment, though the card would not look out of place in an EX/MT holder.  Centering likely works against it, as the top-to-bottom orientation is slightly off.  A few small, stray stains are evident on the reverse.  An interesting and more affordable card of Babe Ruth from the prime years of his career.
