Heavyweight champion Jack Demspey generously signs a baseball for his friend, Babe Ruth, in this phenomenal original press photograph shot at the Ansonia Hotel in Manhattan c.1923. This pair of legends both resided at the Ansonia, a luxurious residential hotel now listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and designated as a New York City landmark. Photo measures approx. 5” x 7.5” and exhibits light scuffing to the surface with a horizontal area of emulsion loss by Ruth's hands. Verso exhibits toning heaviest along top edge and remnants of a paper tag exist at bottom. Christy Walsh Syndicate stamping is also present, identifying them as the issuing service.
