The T205 Gold Border card of Hall of Fame pitcher Addie Joss is a particularly important one in the hobby, as it is a posthumous "tribute" card, the back of which refers to his untimely passing and the respect that he had garnered in the game.  As a result, the card is quite highly prized among collectors today, with strong examples seemingly not trading hands often.  This stellar example carries the extra weight of being the card originating from the collection of hobby pioneer and noted higher-grade collector Lionel Carter, whose collection was sold in 2008.  The card has extraordinary eye appeal, being well-centered with crisp borders and square corners.  Some of the ubiquitous edge chipping common with T205s can be seen, primarily at the lower left but also at the tips of the corners.  The most egregious condition flaw, and the one responsible for the grade, is two small spots and a larger strip of paper loss on the reverse which, coupled with heavy toning to the paper, are telltale signs of long-ago scrapbook mounting and subsequent removal.  Regardless, as attractive a 1.5 as you will find from any T205, much less om one of the key cards in the issue.
