PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A 1915 CRACKER JACK COBB. IT HAS BEEN REHOLDERED BY PSA.
For budget-sensitive collectors, cards like the 1915 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb can be frustrating, because the more affordable lower-grade examples tend to sacrifice a great deal in terms of eye appeal. Particularly with Cracker Jacks, which are printed on extremely thin, flimsy paper, collector-grade examples are typically rife with creases, stains, and other flaws that dramatically reduce the aesthetics of the card. Presented here is an interesting anomaly: a 1915 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb that, safe for some staining at the bottom-left corner and some uneven toning at the top edge, presents like a VG or better card. The image quality is strong, the red background striking against Cobb's likeness. A few light stains and small marks are visible, the reverse largely clean save for the aforementioned staining.
A 1915 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb is one of the hobby's most desirable cards, and along with Christy Mathewson and Joe Jackson is easily one of the keys to the issue. Collector-grade examples this attractive do not make themselves available for public sale particularly often. This is not a common card. It is a highly sought-after piece, one of Cobb's most important cards, and one we are pleased to highlight in our 10th Anniversary sale.
