Spectacular H.H. Bregstone postcard of Hall of Famer Rube Waddell.  The Bregstone postcard issue contains photographic images of members of the St. Louis Browns and Cardinals, and is rare enough that poses and variations remain as of yet undiscovered.  Catalogued as PC743, they are considered among the most rare postcards featuring individual players from multiple teams.  

Until last year, just one pose of Hall of Fame pitcher Rube Waddell was known.  Easily the key to the set, that pose pictured Waddell in full uniform, casually posed with his hands on his hips.  A new variation was discovered by an experienced collector just last year, picturing Waddell in his St. Louis Browns sweater.  Presented here is the second known example of that pose, identified by PSA as the "Sweater" variation, the only example so noted.  Graded VG 3, it is the highest-graded Bregstone Waddell assessed by PSA, with just one SGC example graded higher.

The card was one of a significant find of Bregstone postcards we received on consignment from the family of former Browns pitcher Barney Pelty.  The remaining cards, which are with PSA, will be featured in a future LOTG auction.  This was the only Waddell in the group, graded VG 3 by PSA with very minor wear at the corners and surface, the card accurately graded and yet boasting eye appeal in excess of the assigned grade.  A significant rarity, one of only two known examples of this card of the Hall of Fame pitcher.
