Original 1921 George Grantham Bain news service photo of young Babe Ruth warming up at the Polo Grounds. Interestingly, Ruth has been captured taking reps at first base here, with the unmistakeable Eddie Grant monument visible in dead center field. Images of Ruth playing the infield are extremely scarce and virtually non-existant in the hobby, making this a unique look at the man during his early days with New York. Photo does suffer from minor scattered chipping to the white border, though the central image remains unaffected. Several Culver stamps and a paper tag have been applied to verso along with a date stamp of June 21, 1921. Measures 4” x 5.75”. Encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
