A mostly weak-hitting, fleet-footed right fielder, Tom Poorman is pictured here with the Philadelphia Athletics, where he hit 19 triples and stole 88 bases in 1887.  Despite the grade of AUTHENTIC assigned by SGC, this is the only Kalamazoo Bats Poorman card to have been graded by either company. The N690 issue is rare enough that it is assumed that there are subjects that have yet to be discovered or checklisted, and advanced collectors are certainly less concerned with condition.  The image is clean, the reason for the grade is obviously a series of heavy creases that run so deep in the card that it is torn, repaired on the reverse by some paper added to the problem area, secured with some adhesive.  The number 3 is written in pencil at the upper right. What appears to be a long vertical scratch on the reverse is actually a crack in the holder. Aside from the aforementioned crease, the image itself is strong, with some light wear and a few stray surface abrasions here and there.  An extremely rare card from a very desirable 19th Century issue, the only graded example known.
