The Cincinnati Reds returned to the World Series in 1940, this time defeating the Detroit Tigers, 4 games to 3. Game 5 at Briggs Stadium in Detroit was an 8-0 Tigers win, with a home run by Hank Greenberg and a three-hit shutout by Bobo Newsom. Though the stub presents well, it is in POOR condition with significant paper remnants and some loss on the reverse, from scrapbook removal. As is the case with most of the other stubs in this collection, the eye appeal is strong despite the technical grade.
