Issued between 1939 and 1946, the Exhibits set known among collectors as the "Salutaion" set is rife with different layers of scarcity as subjects were discontinued and added throughout the print run depending on which players were active.  Lou Gehrig, of course, was active for just a few games during the run, as he pulled himself from the Yankees lineup after just eight games in 1939, and never returned to baseball.  The result is that the card is extremely scarce relative to the others in the set.  This example, graded VG/EX 4 by SGC, is extremely clean, with only light wear at the edges and corners.  An exceptionally scarce and highly sought-after card, which happens to also be the last card issued of Gehrig during his playing days.
