Only a few short years ago acquiring an original glass plate negative, any negative, from the camera of photographer Charles M. Conlon was virtually impossible. The few Conlon negatives existing in private collections never come up for sale and the vast majority of those known to exist (over 7500) were sold as a collection by The Sporting News back in 2016. Recently, material from several photo archives has changed hands, releasing several original Conlon negatives into the hobby. The five 4" x 5" examples presented here all feature Brooklyn Robins c.1930 and remain fully intact with the exception of Howard Freigau who suffers from a small chip to the bottom right edge. Adolfo Luque does exhibit hints of chipping along the left edge but this does not impact the central image in any way. All five negatives do display a small degree of yellow/brown toning due to age, which is common. From L to R, players include: Gordon Slade, William Clark, Hollis Thurston, Howard Freigau, Adolfo Luque. Included with the negatives are their original paper sleeves, complete with Charles Conlon's handwritten ID's of each player.
