Rare and desirable card of Hall of Famer Willie Mays from the 1953-54 Briggs Meats issue. Briggs Meats cards are extremely difficult and condition sensitive, issued as part of two-card panels printed on waxed cardboard that formed part of a hot dog package. The borderless cards were to be cut from the panel, the result being that of 227 cards from the set to have been graded by PSA, fully 199 of them have received a grade of "AUTHENTIC."
This example is freshly graded, submitted by us on behalf of our consignor. Eye appeal is strong, with clean surface and edges, and sharp corners. One of the key cards to the set (the others being Mickey Mantle and the ultra-rare Gil Coan), an extremely strong specimen.
