Lot Description  

Partial set of Hall of Fame plaque postcards from the 1956-63 Artvue issue, including a few extras. Collection averages VG+ with some better and some lesser. Artvue was the official provider of the postcards available for sale at the Baseball Hall of Fame. There are two types of cards from this set: Type 1, in which the bolt holes in the four corners of each plaque are open, and Type 2, in which they are filled in with bolts. The majority of these cards fall into the Type 2 category.  
 
Missing for completion are: Grover Cleveland Alexander, Cap Anson, Mickey Cochrane, Sam Crawford, Joe Cronin, Dizzy Dean, Bill Dickey, Joe DiMaggio, Bob Feller, Jimmie Foxx, Frank Frisch, Lou Gehrig, Charlie Gehringer, Hank Greenberg, Rogers Hornsby, Carl Hubbell, Walter Johnson, Ted Lyons, Connie Mack, Christy Mathewson, Mel Ott, Edd Roush, Bill Terry, Pie Traynor. Honus Wagner, Paul Waner. Collection also includes Type I cards of Cap Anson and Honus Wagner along with duplicates of both Bobby Wallace and Zack Wheat.
