Unique photo collection featuring 25 Paul Thompson shots of the Chicago Cubs in their dark blue 1911-12 away duds. Of particular interest here is that all three New York ballparks are represented: Washington Park (Brooklyn), the Polo Grounds (Giants), Hilltop Park (Highlanders). Images of NL teams at the AL's Hilltop Park can sometimes be found due to a destructive fire at the Polo Grounds April 14, 1911. This forced the Giants to move their "home" games to Hilltop Park until the Polo Grounds reopened on June 28. Additionally, shots taken at Washington Park are far more scarce than the ubiquitos backgrounds we see of the other two ballparks. Jimmy Archer and Al Kaiser's horizontal throwing photos in this collection are some of the best looks at Washington Park likely to be found.

All photos in this collection range between approx. 4.5" x 6.5" to 5" x 7" and include one of three Paul Thompson stamps common to the era on verso. Photo surfaces are impressively clean with the only imperfections of note being a missing corner from the Johnny Kling photo and both the Solly Hoffman and one Jack Rowan photo have a single creased corner each. Worthy of note is that Jack Rowan, featured in two photos here, only appeared in one game for the Cubs in his career. Reggie Richter, also in this collection, appeared in 22 games for 1911 Cubs and was never again seen in the majors.

Photos included: Jimmy Archer (3), King Cole, Dick Cotter, Jimmy Doyle, Red Downs (2), Peaches Graham, Solly Hofman, Al Kaiser (2), Johnny Kling, Jimmy Lavender, Harry McIntire, Reggie Richter, Jack Rowan (2), Lew Richie, Dave Shean, Charlie Smith, Vic Saier (3), Orlie Weaver. These photos are fresh to the hobby and originate from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where they have been stored for several decades until this offering.
