The 1936 R312 "Pastel" issue is called such due to the pastel coloration of the cards. The absolutely beautiful premiums are actually black and white photos that were colorized. Printed on thin but oversized (5 3/8" x 4") paper stock, the set is loaded with stars and Hall of Famers, including what many feel to be the true rookie card of Joe DiMaggio. The large image size of the cards, coupled with the thin stock on which they were printed make them susceptible to damage and condition issues. This example has been graded VG 3 by PSA, presenting extremely well for the grade, with the slightest small crease at the tip of the bottom-left corner, along with general corner wear and a top-to-bottom centering issue. Secure enough in the PSA holder to prevent it from moving even to the point where we could collect a well-centered scan, the card is outstanding.
