Boston Dove's infielder Bill Sweeney leaps for an imaginary baseball at the Polo Grounds in this 8" x 10" photo from Charles Conlon. Conlon set up this image in 1910, at the heart of Sweeney's career which spanned the 1907-1914 seasons, most of which were spent with Boston's NL squads. Image is sharp and clear with only minor blemishes to the photo itself, including minor chipping to the left side, small pieces missing from the left corners and a tiny piece missing from the top edge. Verso is clean overall and includes Conlon's personal stamping along with his handwritten identification of Sweeney. Photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until this offering. Guaranteed Type 1.
