Extremely scarce card from a six-card set issued in 1928, each card featuring Babe Ruth, photographed at a 1924 promotional West Coast tour and from the 1927 film "Babe Comes Home." Issued by the George Ruth Candy Company, each card features a photo caption at the bottom, and many include an offer to exchange the complete set for an autographed baseball, which may be an indication as to why the cards are so scarce today. This example is captioned "'Babe' Ruth Knocked out 60 Home Runs in 1927. His Candy Helped Him." Despite the erroneous SGC labeling, it is the second card in the set, and is particularly desirable because it refers to Ruth setting the home run record the season before. Graded EX+ 5.5 by SGC, just one example has graded higher, but this specimen is quite attractive, with strong centering, square corners, and an outstanding image. A fantastic example of a seldom-seen card of the greatest player of all-time.
