The PC796 issue is one of the most visually appealing and widely-desirable postcard sets featuring baseball players of the deadball era. Issued in 1910 by an unknown manufacturer, this set mirrors the Novelty Cutlery postcard set and uses many images seen in different baseball card and supplement issues. This example has been graded PR 1 by SGC, picturing Mathewson in a well-known pitching pose. The postal use is largely responsible for the grade, having been mailed in August of 1911. A portion of postmark is visible on the front of the card as well, with some corner and edge wear evident, along with an upper-right corner crease. With a brilliant pose and a crisp image of the famous Christy Mathewson, this card is an all-time classic.
