Stunning composite photo postcard that was produced in conjunction with the 1919 World Series and sold alongside a similar postcard of the Cincinnati Reds. Identicaly to an image produced in the Chicago Sunday Tribune in September of 1919, the postcard features 19 members of the team, including all eight players who would later receive lifetime bans for their involvement in the Black Sox Scandal: Eddie Cicotte, Hap Felsch, Chick Gandil, Fred McMullin, Swede Risberg, Buck Weaver, Lefty Williams, and of course, Shoeless Joe Jackson. Also included in the postcard are Hall of Famers Eddie Collins, Red Faber and Ray Schalk, along with manager Kid Gleason. Postally unused, this is one of just four examples assessed by SGC, and the highest-graded of the group. Overall wear accounts for the grade, though eye appeal is extremely strong, relative to the others. Black Sox material is, of course, highly desirable, and this is a rare example of a postcard produced specifically for the 1919 World Series, featuring all the players involved with throwing the Series. An extraordinary historical document.
