A strong representation of one of the most beloved pitchers of his time Addie Joss was not only an outstanding pitcher but a well-known newspaper columnist and sports editor of the Toledo News-Bee during the offseason. His writing was immensely popular and his sudden premature death from tubercular meningitis at 31 prompted an outpouring of generosity that resulted in a benefit All-Star game that raised $13 000 for Joss" family. Popular among players and fans alike Joss" legend is still popular today and his cards and memorabilia still widely collected.Joss was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1978 after the 10-year eligibility requirement was waived as a special circumstance. It is the only time the rule has been waived. This card is a superior example of the Joss "pitching" variation a truly special card documenting one of the greatest and post popular players of the era.
